Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to his community. One of the first things he did is to help his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. In second football, he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. They made the All-America team in 1973. Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. In his time as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree in education. Fourth service In the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours every week for volunteer activities. After graduation, he moved to Tampa and played for nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. He then began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the most prominent young people in America. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named his in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. Parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
