Selena Gomez

Selena Marie Gomez (/s@'li:n@ "goUmez"/s@-LEE'n@ GOH-m born on July 22, 1992) is an American singer, actress and producer. Gomez began her acting career in 2002 when she appeared on the popular children's television series Barney & Friends. She rose to fame for her role as Alex Russo, a teenage actor on the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-12). As well as her television work, Gomez appeared in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), Spring Breakers (2012), Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), and The Dead Don't Die (2019) and as Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise (2012-2022). Gomez executive produced the Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Living Undocumented (2019) through her production company, July Moon Productions. She also executive produces and stars in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building (21-21). The latter has earned Gomez not only praise from critics but also nominations for a Golden Globe Award, and as producer in the series, the Primetime Emmy Award . Gomez was a member of Selena Gomez & the Scene and released three albums. The three albums all made it to the top ten on the US Billboard 200. They were all certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Her debut album as a solo artist, Stars Dance (2013) it topped the U.S. Billboard 200 topped her debut solo album entitled Stars Dance (2013). The album's lead single, "Come & Get It" made it to the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez's sophomore album, Revival (2015) was released at the top spot in the US. It was certified platinum by RIAA and was followed by three top-ten songs in the US: "Good for You", “Same Old Love" as well as "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020) is Gomez's third studio album, became her third consecutive top ten album in the US. The first single, "Lose You, to Love Me" was the first single to top the charts in the US. In 2021, she debuted the EP in Spanish Revelacion, for which she was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. She has been honored with numerous accolades, such as being named Woman of the Year by Billboard in 2017. In 2017, she broke 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2020. Her social media following is large and she is the most popular actor and performer on Instagram. Her other ventures include clothing, makeup perfume, handbags and fragrance lines. From the age of 17 she has been a UNICEF ambassador and has also been involved on behalf of a variety of charities.
