Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. Feminist Frequency is a website that hosts videos and commentaries analysing portrayals gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and award-winning feminist for nearly a decade. Feminist Frequency, a website dedicated to education, which examines women's role in the narratives of pop culture It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. She also serves as the director of operations. In her efforts to break down stereotypes related to women in popular culture, she also works on issues related the harassing women targeted by the media and other classes of people online. With a master's in the field of political and social thinking from York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaking engagement and has given speeches at TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since an early age she launched her website Feminist Frequency in the year 2009 when she was she was still at University. It was a girl who wanted to create a series of web videos to examine the how gender is represented in games. But, she was victimized by online harassment. But the assault did not deter her instead it was a boost to her determination as a feminist critic of media. Her many notable contributions in the field of feminists were recognized by a variety of prizes. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winning media critic and the co-founder of Feminist Frequency an educational and non-profit organization which studies the portrayals of women in popular cultural and the narratives that surround them.
